When making my first ring, I researched what thickness of steel the main manufacturers of metal rings on the market use. There is a certain gradation, but I settled on the 12 mm option. The ring is more massive than the plywood one, but has a decent margin of safety in dynamic suspensions. In rings divided internally into sections, all jumpers inside also have a steel core.
